IntroductionCommercial cases are basically debt collection cases. When compared to other business disputes or with personal injury case commercial cases tend to involve less dispute as to whether the amount at issue is owed and there is some other reason the debt has not been paid. Many times there is a professed inability to pay or an unwillingness to pay. Commercial cases typically come in bulk or at least in handfuls. They can typically be handled on a contingent fee basis, routinely, one third. Some clients with a large number of cases can obtain a more favorable rate of 25%. Our firm attempts to avoid small consumer debt cases in the under $3,000.00 range. We find that such cases are not profitable for client or counsel.
